
The All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Future of Retail is an informal cross-party group of Parliamentarians which serves to provide a forum to engage with interested stakeholders and promote the value of the retail sector in collaboration with industry.
About the Group
The key objectives of the Group are to:

Raise awareness amongst parliamentarians and policymakers of the positive economic and social contribution of the UK retail industry

Represent the needs and views of retail businesses across the UK

Shape policies to support retail businesses to survive and grow in future

Form strong relationships between parliamentarians, retailers and the Government alike
Chair and Vice Chair

Co-Chair: Matt Vickers MP
Matt Vickers was first elected as the MP for Stockton South in 2019. He grew-up and worked in the area, including previous jobs in the retail sector.
His focus is on delivering innovative solutions to support the retail sector adapt and prosper, including reviewing Business Rates and the introduction of a digital spending tax.

Matt currently sits on the Committee on the Future Relationship with the European Union and is a councillor for Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

Co-Chair: Liz Twist MP
Liz Twist was first elected as the MP for Blaydon in 2017. She has been a passionate advocate in Parliament for the retail sector, calling for more support and safeguards for workers during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Prior to her election, Liz worked for UNISON and was a local councillor in Gateshead. She is an Opposition Whip and is a member of the Scottish Affairs Select Committee and Procedure Committees.
