Q: What are your academic achievements?

2:1 in Politics, University of York

Q: What sparked your interest in politics?

Studying John Rawls’ ‘Theory of Justice’ at University. I was really impressed by it.

Q: What motivates you?

Helping others, and being part of a team.

Q: Proudest moment?

Graduating from University, it was really nice to have been committed to completing something, and having my family there to enjoy it too.

Q: Which political person do you most admire?

Aneurin Bevan, he never compromised his principles.

Q: Your greatest ambition?

To write a novel, or a history book.

Q: When are you happiest?

Out on a walk in the countryside somewhere, usually somewhere in Essex.

Q: Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?

Bill Clinton, Stephen Fry, David Bowie and Sue Perkins. I think they’d make a good mix.

Q: Worst political moment?

Campaigning at Crewe and Nantwich. It was a bit of a disaster from the start.

Q: Favourite political book?

1984 by George Orwell. I’ve read it a few times.

Michael was born in Essex, and has lived in various parts of the UK and Europe. He joined Connect in January 2010, and has experience of working in both Westminster and Public Affairs. Whilst studying Politics at the University of York, Michael worked as the Parliamentary Researcher to Angela E Smith MP for nearly three years, working both in her Westminster and Constituency offices. After graduating Michael worked for a short time in the Public Affairs unit of the energy company RWE npower, gaining valuable knowledge of utilities, and regulatory authorities.

Michael works with a variety of clients including, Unison, the All Party Parliamentary Water Group and Energy and Utility Skills.
