Bachelors in International Studies with Spanish at Birmingham University and a Masters in International and European Politics from Edinburgh University

I always enjoyed history at school and a combination of family involvement and a great teacher at school all helped.

Success

Q: Proudest moment?

Climbing Kilimanjaro and rowing at university.

Q: Which political person do you most admire?

Either Margaret Thatcher or Adolfo Suárez – both transformed their countries for the better.

Q: How do you relax?

Mainly sporting especially rowing on the Thames.

James has over six years experience as a campaigns and public affairs professional. He worked as the parliamentary researcher for Charles Hendry MP, Shadow Minister for Energy, in the Political Unit of the Conservative Research Department, and most recently worked for the Regional Development Agency Secretariat. Prior to working in politics he worked for almost three years as a private banker in the City managing high-net-worth clients.

James has also worked overseas, including several months for a media consultancy in Baghdad, a summer internship in the US Congress in Washington DC, as well as studying for a year in Madrid, Spain.
