Q: Where were you born?

Harrow

Q: What are your academic achievements?

BA Politics and Parliamentary Studies, University of Leeds, which included internships in the Canadian Parliament and in Westminster; and an MA Political Campaigning and Communications, Kingston University.

Q: What sparked your interest in politics?

I don't remember a time when I wasn't interested in politics. I do remember writing a story about Neil Kinnock tricking Margaret Thatcher out of No 10 when I was about 10 years old - that's got to say something! And of course, the night of the 1997 General Election campaign couldn’t help but fire up my interest to get more involved.

Q: What motivates you?

Getting things done well.

Q: Proudest moment?

Persuading the Government to abolish a means test for a housing grant, helping thousands of families with disabled children to make vital housing adaptations.

Q: How do you relax?

Watching Strictly Come Dancing. And daydreaming about being in Strictly Come Dancing.

Q: Favourite political book?

I have a stack of political biogs lined up on my bookshelf at home, but I tend to dip in and read the interesting bits rather than plough through 600 pages of life story. I did love Susan Crosland’s biography of her husband Tony, but let’s be honest, it reads more like a novel than a weighty tome…

Q: What would people be surprised to know about you?

I have a phobia of apple stickers.
